Performance Inspiration

I've been a dancer for most of my life. I started Ballet lessons at the young age of 7, and stuck with it from then on. In recent years, I've started exploring others styles like Jazz, Modern and Tap. And while I'm not necessarily counting on becoming a professional dancer, I know that dance has always been, and will always be a constant in my life. Because of that, I'm always looking for inspiration that will make me want to keep pushing myself, and to keep improving my abilities. It's easy to idolize dancers that are already professionals, getting paid by the top companies in the world(for good reason too). But sometimes, the best thing to do is to have a role model who is closer to where you are. Someone who is talented and passionate, but still trying to find they're big break. Someone that you can see their struggles and frustrations, their achievements and triumphs. So that you can watch them grow, and you can learn from them.

Ida Saki is an extremely talented dancer, even after only 5 years of lessons. She is truly amazing, and watching her dance leaves me breathless every time. This video is an example of her power, and agility, and shows how she continues to push the bounds of what a human being is capable of.
This video, also of Ida, showcases the emotional side of her dancing. She knows that performing with your heart and soul, is just as important as technique.
My newest inspiration is Melanie Moore, a current contestant on So You Think You Can Dance. While I don't actually watch the show(I found her through YouTube), I really hope she wins. She is a very versatile dancer, and you won't be able to take your eyes off her!
Both of these girls will be an inspiration to me for years to come, and I look forward to seeing where their careers take them.

Birds on a Wire

Duh duh duh! I got a haircut today! Up until January I had been rocking a pixie cut(loved it!), but I was missing my long hair. I started to grow it out, but the sides were about 2 inches shorter than the rest. I got it evened out today so that it will all grow at the same length, and I'm actually really liking it!
My bangs got a little wonky

My sister trying to be artsy

Ya, I don't switch purses very often

Right now I'm nomming on some caramel filled, walnut brownies that my sister-in-law made for my nephew's 4th birthday. They are so flippin' delicious! I'm also really excited because tomorrow is the first performance for the summer show with my college's dance department. We're dancing for the summer school kids(and we have to be there at 8:45. Yuk). It's not a big deal, but it's so much fun, and Monday we'll be at Disneyland! Woot! Anyway, that's all for tonight. Good night Blogoshpere!

Feeling Sassy

Had a blast doing today's photo shoot. My sister was trying to act all pro, even though she is a pretty horrible photographer. She did surprise me today though. I'm in love with this new blouse! Got it on Sunday whilst shopping in SLO($5.99!!!), as well as a few other fabulous finds that I can't wait to show you all!

Kreuzberg, CA.

As promised, here are some pictures from our SLO adventure on Sunday. Although, seeing as I'm up there practically every week, it's not much of an adventure for me anymore. I still love it though. My favorite place to eat up in SLO is the Kreuzberg, CA Cafe. Named for the hippest neighborhood in Berlin, this cafe is definitely a cool little place. All of their food is named after famous authors, and hanging above a wall of books, are portraits of said authors. The food and drinks are all really good(the tuxedo mocha is my favorite), and they have a lot of fun and quirky art hanging around. It's just an all-around fun place to hang out! I just wish it was in my hometown.
See! Wall of books. Portraits of authors. I wouldn't lie.

Miguel de Cervantes breakfast burrito. Yummy!

Lavender Dry Soda is absolutely delicious!

Some decor for ambiance

That wall of books? They're all for sale.

Some art, a wall of notes and a mish-mash of furniture.

More kooky furniture, and upside-down table lamps. How cool is that?

Again, I apologize for the crappy cellphone camera pictures. I promise I won't do it again! Poor photograph quality aside, it's easy to see why I love this cafe so much. And if you can't, well, I don't want to hear it!

Outfit post numero dos coming soon to a computer screen near you!

Enjoying the summer sun

Woop Woop! My very first outfit post! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera battery and I had to take these pictures with my phone, so they aren't very good. Oh well!

Please excuse my obnoxiously white legs.

My sister and I had decided to drive up to SLO today to do some shopping. After eating at my favorite cafe we walked passed this cool mural and I thought it would make a pretty nice backdrop for a few impromptu photos. The last photo is at the fountain at Mission San Luis Obispo de tolosa. More about today's adventure coming soon!
